FAQ'S

Frequently Asked Questions

Explore the answers to some of the most common inquiries about our training programs, certifications, and more. Here, you will find the information you need to make informed decisions about your career in rigging and crane operation.

Do my employees need rigging training?

OSHA states that all employees shall be trained in everything they do. Also, rigging manufacturers’ warnings require all users to be trained.

Where can I find the rules for rigging?

This is complicated. OSHA refers to some other organizations by reference, which makes them laws. In fact, most of the rules for rigging are in different parts of ASME, in addition to manufacturers and organizations rules for their products.

What are the training requirements for rigging?

OSHA has changed the definition of a Qualified Rigger to one that is Certified with proof of testing and practical training when working with mobile cranes over 1 ton. (ASME B30.5)

Why do I need to be a “Certified” (Tested) Rigger?

The 2022 ASME regulations require testing for mobile crane riggers. If you have not passed the testing, you will be required to be supervised by a Certified Rigger.

ASME B30.5-3.1.2.2 Qualified Riggers (“Certified”) are required when working with any type of mobile crane, including crawler cranes, locomotive cranes, wheeled cranes, and any variations of cranes that retain the same fundamental characteristics of 1 ton or more. Qualified riggers must pass written and practical examinations (“Certified”).

What is the difference between Rigger Level 1 and Certified Rigger Level 1?

The course material is exactly the same for both courses. The Rigger Level 1 course is not a certification course, and you will only receive a certificate of attendance. The Certified Rigger Level 1 course includes testing. You will be “Certified” when you pass the exam phase.

What is your pass success rate?

Our pass success rate is about 85%.

Do you provide both on-site and online courses?

Yes, most of our courses are offered both online and onsite. However, some courses can only be held onsite at your facility.

How many students would there need to be if we would like to have you come to our facility/classroom to hold an on-site class?

We require at least 15 students in a class, but we don’t like to have more than 20. However, we can customize a class to meet your needs. Please contact us for more information.

Do you hold open enrollment for in-person courses at your facility for individuals or groups?

Not at this time. We can come to your facility for group training.

Tell me more about your online courses.

All of our online courses are self-paced and include quizzes. Certification classes include all testing necessary to receive your certification. Testing is timed, and portions are proctored via Zoom. Final interviews/signal testing is done via Zoom with our certification administrators.

How is the practical instruction/exam done for the online courses?

Our online Certified Rigger and Signal Person courses/practical instruction videos/testing meet the requirements for certification. The practical portion of the rigger testing consists of math questions and includes work scenarios and charts. This exam must be proctored via Zoom with our certification administrators and includes a final interview before certification.

Do you offer discounts?

Yes, we offer online group discounts, on-site discounts, and more. Please contact us for information.

Do you offer any courses in Spanish?

Yes, we offer Rigger Level 1 in Spanish. This course is only offered online.

When can I begin my online course?

You may begin your online course immediately upon payment. You will receive an email from the learning management system informing you that you have enrolled in the course.

Can I purchase a Rigging Pocket Guide?

We do not sell our Rigging Pocket Guides. However, you can download a free version for your mobile phone by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page. We offer the Rigging Pocket Guides in both English and Spanish.

How long are your certifications good for?

Online certifications are valid for two years, while on-site certifications are valid for three years. OSHA requires re-training at no more than three-year intervals.

How can I renew my card?

We offer online renewal courses for most of the classes we teach. The expiration date will be on your card and hard hat stickers to remind you. You can renew your certification online, or your employer may choose to have us come back for an on-site renewal course.

I completed my online course; how can I download my certificate from the dashboard?

  • Go to the drop-down arrow next to “Learner” at the top right of the screen.
  • Click on “My Certificates.”
  • Click on the certificate symbol on the right to download your certificate.

How can I get my Rigger Level 2 certification?
